❝It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.❞ Deuteronomy 31:8
Reflection by Bettie Sue McDonald
Life is a journey best traveled with a commitment to the Lord. The rudder for your journey is knowing and listening to God.
My husband and I are often asked how we came to live in Tifton, and our best answer is “by listening to what God told us and knowing that he would lead us in the right path.” In my first ten years after high school, I lived in four states and eight cities, ending in Tifton.
Listening and not being afraid of the path God was directing us to take, we arrived in each location to first grow bonds, as a very young married couple. Then as our families experienced health issues, we were in locations to assist. And finally to settle between families, God planted us in Tifton. We have had opportunities to move on, but heard the word to remain in this loving community.
The journey could have been scary, but we knew God had plans and we needed to listen – that he would be with us, guiding us on the pathways. Our lives are a long journey, and the scenery along the way can be beautiful, or the countryside bumpy. There will be hidden purposes and hidden blessings. Do not fear or be dismayed!
My way of listening to what I need to hear is to meditate on the sound of ocean waves. Be at peace and listen to hear what God is saying to you.
