Holy Week is sacred time at St. Anne’s. Join us for worship and walk step-by-step with Jesus through the week that changed the world.
10 a.m. Palm Sunday
The service begins in the Memorial Garden. The entire congregation processes together into the sanctuary, commemorating Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. The story of Jesus’ Passion is read in parts as we anticipate the events of Holy Week.
6 p.m. Holy Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday
A simple Eucharist is held each night in St. Anne’s historic chapel, and we hear the stories of the events leading to Christ’s final days.
6 p.m. Maundy Thursday
This is one of the holiest nights of the year, in which we commemorate Jesus’ institution of the Last Supper and the washing of his disciples’s feet. After Communion, the Altar is stripped bare in anticipation of Good Friday and the stripping of Christ before his crucifixion. For the rest of the night, volunteers keep vigil before the Blessed Sacrament in St. Anne’s historic chapel, staying awake with Christ as he asked his disciples to do in the Garden of Gethsemane.
12 a.m. Friday Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
At midnight the Blessed Sacrament is carried back to the main sanctuary where sung prayers are offered by the priest. This brief, mystical service provides a unique opportunity for the adoration of Christ and his Presence among us.
12 noon Good Friday
At the hour on which Christ hung upon the cross, we gather in the main sanctuary to offer prayers of adoration to Christ and our petitions on behalf of the world.
