Bishop Frank Logue, Senior Warden Sarah Cook, Junior Warden Kathy Moreno, Treasurer Lorie Felton, and the Vestry of St. Anne’s Episcopal church are pleased to announce that Mother Leeann Culbreath has accepted a call to serve as Priest-in-Charge of Worship, Formation, and Pastoral Care on a 3/4 time basis as of November 15, 2022. A priest-in-charge usually has a set term they are contracted for, whereas an interim rector is hired for a longer period usually on a full-time basis. We are going to move forward with a priest-in-charge agreement with Mother Leeann for 6 months and then re-evaluate at that time, likely on a monthly basis.
What that means is that Mother Leeann will be the celebrant for most Sundays and preach every other week and offer Eucharist and a homily on Wednesdays. She is also going to be with us to celebrate feast days and events that are so important to our congregation such as Midnight Mass and the Great Vigil of Easter. We will be calling on our lay leaders to assist with sermons on the weeks where she will not preach. She will still be available most of those weeks to celebrate Eucharist with us, contingent upon her already-set travel schedule.
Mother Leeann will handle most matters of pastoral care and worship, including regular weekly office hours on Tuesday and Thursday mornings; assist our lay leaders with formation development; celebrate weddings, funerals, etc.; and handle larger pastoral responsibilities. She will not have eclesiastical or financial authority, and that will remain with the Vestry. She will not handle most administrative issues including staffing since we have such strong lay leaders that have been able to keep the ship afloat during this interim period.
